The story of Ceramic Arts Studio
The Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison, Wisconsin was begun in 1940 by Lawrence Rabbitt and Rueben Sand. The company at first sold hand-thrown pots made by Rabitt. Then on a chance encounter Betty Harrington came into the picture. The owners liked her work so well that they asked her to design other items for them. At this time there was a strong demand for figurines in department stores and gift shops. The source of these figurines, Germany and Japan, had dried up due to the war. Their most popular products were expensive molded figurines. The pottery closed in 1955

Cheese is 1.5" tall by 2.75" long. Mouse is 1.9" tall. Like new condition. No stoppers. Made by Ceramic Arts Studio in Madison Wisconsin. Acquire in the early 1980's. Not pictured, mouse fits in the big cheese hole.
